Dr. Flanagan’s clinical expertise and research are focused on the diagnosis and management of autoimmune neurological disorders with an emphasis on inflammatory autoimmune spinal cord disorders and their mimics including their MRI patterns. He also has an interest in the epidemiology of inflammatory demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system and autoimmune neurologic disorders.

Dr. Abbatemarco is currently at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City completing his fellowship in Autoimmune Neurology and will be joining the faculty at the Cleveland Clinic in July 2021, where he had previously completed his neuroimmunology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis Treatment and Research. He has an interest in a wide spectrum of autoimmune neurological disorders with active research in multiple sclerosis and autoimmune encephalitis.

Dr. Lennox’s interests are in discovering the causes of and developing more effective treatments for people with psychosis, and in implementing those discoveries into clinical practice. She runs a clinic, jointly with neuroimmunologists, for patients with neuronal cell surface antibodies and is currently running a double-blind randomized controlled trial of intravenous immunoglobulin and rituximab in patients with psychosis and antibodies (the SINAPPS2 trial).  Dr. Rodenbeck is currently at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City completing her fellowship in Autoimmune Neurology and will be joining the faculty at the University of Indiana in July 2021.  Dr. Rodenbeck’s most recent clinical and research experiences focused on autoimmune and paraneoplastic encephalitis. 

Autoimmune Epilepsy is a frequent topic among the AE community and Dr. Rodenbeck is excited to have the opportunity to help us understand the condition more clearly and answer questions you would like to have addressed. Assistant Professor in the Division of Child Neurology at the University of Louisville, Kentucky will be presenting on Pediatric Autoimmune Encephalitis. He was the first pediatric neurologist to complete an autoimmune neurology fellowship at the University of Utah. Upon joining as faculty at the University of Louisville in 2016, he started the region’s first-ever clinic to treat children specifically with immune-mediated neurologic disorders. He also joined with colleagues in the Department of Neurology to start an adult autoimmune neurology clinic in conjunction with an established neuroimmunology program.
