Exciting discovery in anti-NMDAr! A new study Directed by Dr. Dalmau, examines the molecular mechanisms that cause a type of autoimmune encephalitis: anti-NMDAr

Open Access article.
Study just released examines the mechanism that begins the disease process (parthenogenesis) of anti-NMDAr encephalitis. This will lead to Studies that will now focus on determining whether the antibodies of patients can alter other molecules that interact with NMDAR, in order to discover new potential therapeutic targets

Neuroimmune disorders of the central nervous system in children in the molecular era

Several doctors on the IAES Doctor’s list came together in this research. Immune-mediated disorders of the CNS in children are a complex group of demyelinating, inflammatory, parainfectious and postinfectious disorders with heterogeneous pathobiological mechanisms and clinical manifestations, often associated with fundamental derangement in immune regulation. In this Review, researchers aim to provide an update on their knowledge of neuroimmune disorders and highlight areas of research that are priorities for improving clinical management.

Beyond the limbic system: disruption and functional compensation of large-scale brain networks in patients with anti-LGI1 encephalitis

Conclusions Anti-LGI1 encephalitis is associated with a characteristic pattern of widespread functional network alterations. Increased DMN connectivity seems to represent a compensatory mechanism for memory impairment induced by hippocampal damage. Network analyses may provide a key to the understanding of clinical symptoms in autoimmune encephalitis and reveal changes of brain function beyond apparent structural damage.
