Meditation Apps for Kids

Kids of all ages can reap the benefits of meditation and mindfulness using technology. Meditating even only a few minutes a day has proven to reduce stress, boost immunity, aid memory and concentration, decrease depression and anxiety, and even make you more compassionate. Don’t know where to start? Check out some of our favorite meditation apps for kids. These tools will guide kids through the process and help them relax and ground themselves.

Symple-Symptom Tracker APP for IPhone

Tracking your AE symptoms is EASY with this APP. You input your own symptoms and quickly note how you are doing when the app alerts you a few times a day.

Once it is set up,  it’s a matter of checking a box in regard to that symptom for time of day and severity.  This allows you to accurately report to your doctor and even e-mail them a chart of how you are doing with each symptom. You can track if treatment is working and feel in control of being able to identify if symptoms are relapsing. Includes a place for medications and notes.

Seizure Tracker APP

This has been recommended by Neurologists who have treated AE patients. Specific focus is for seizures. You can track seizures and other symptoms in a timeline (graph) with medications and lab work. It might be good option for those predominantly dealing with seizures as a main symptom or residual issue from AE.

Speak4Me APP

App recommendation for iPhone and IPad.
This is a free app that can support patients when our eyesight is blurry (common with AE) or when we are too brain fatigued to read. A handy app that can save us from over taxing our brain and still accomplish our reading needs/desires/pleasures. The app speaks the text of your reading material clearly and the speed and tone can be adjusted, a wonderful solution to supporting deficits caused by AE. Simply import the reading material or copy and paste directly.

WeekCal~Most Powerful Calendar APP

Support your memory loss issues with WeekCal. WeekCal breaks through the limitations of the standard calendar for iPhone, Apple Watch & iPad. A truly multifunctional and customizable calendar for your personal needs.

Word Runner: Speed Reading for Kindle

One of the biggest losses we hear about from AE Warriors is mourning the loss of being able to read for pleasure.  This is a great rehabilitation tool.

Word Runner displays individual words in rapid succession. Instead of your eyes tracking across the page, they remain fixed on a single, central point. Lengthy words remain on the screen for a longer time, and natural breaks like paragraphs are marked by a pause.

Display speed is configurable from 100 to 900 words per minute. Users can slow down, stop, or back up by pressing and holding the screen.

Marco Polo APP

This is a mobile phone app for both iPhone and Android devices. Unlike other forms of contact, Marco Polo allows you to take turns recording short videos. Click on the icon of the person you want to talk to, and then hold down the Start button to begin recording your message to them. Hit Stop when you are done. The person will respond in turn, and you can reply to their message when you are ready.

Supports delayed processing and overstimulation (flooding) people with brain injury experience.
