The goal of this app is to make journal entries of health symptoms as quickly and efficiently as possible.

This app does 4 things: simple daily entry of symptoms; graphs of the past 4 weeks of each symptom to view or show; sharing of graphs and data through Dropbox and email; showing correlations and predictions among symptoms. It does nothin else, is as simple as possible.

Symple-Symptom Tracker APP for IPhone

Tracking your AE symptoms is EASY with this APP. You input your own symptoms and quickly note how you are doing when the app alerts you a few times a day.

Once it is set up,  it’s a matter of checking a box in regard to that symptom for time of day and severity.  This allows you to accurately report to your doctor and even e-mail them a chart of how you are doing with each symptom. Marco Polo APP

This is a mobile phone app for both iPhone and Android devices. Unlike other forms of contact, Marco Polo allows you to take turns recording short videos. Click on the icon of the person you want to talk to, and then hold down the Start button to begin recording your message to them. Hit Stop when you are done. The person will respond in turn, and you can reply to their message when you are ready.

This is a free app that can support patients when our eyesight is blurry (common with AE) or when we are too brain fatigued to read. A handy app that can save us from over taxing our brain and still accomplish our reading needs/desires/pleasures. The app speaks the text of your reading material clearly and the speed and tone can be adjusted, a wonderful solution to supporting deficits caused by AE. Word Runner: Speed Reading for Kindle

One of the biggest losses we hear about from AE Warriors is mourning the loss of being able to read for pleasure.  This is a great rehabilitation tool.

Word Runner displays individual words in rapid succession. Instead of your eyes tracking across the page, they remain fixed on a single, central point. Lengthy words remain on the screen for a longer time, and natural breaks like paragraphs are marked by a pause.

Display speed is configurable from 100 to 900 words per minute. Users can slow down, stop, or back up by pressing and holding the screen.

Write the Story

This writing exercise journal is a helpful tool for AE patients. Improve memory, aphasia (forgetting words, using the wrong word but thinking the correct word), and cognitive deficits by writing stories using the list of words you need to incorporate in that story.

Gratitude is good medicine

“The practice of gratitude can have dramatic and lasting effects in a person’s life,” said Robert A. Emmons, professor of psychology at UC Davis and a leading scientific expert on the science of gratitude.

“It can lower blood pressure, improve immune function and facilitate more efficient sleep. Gratitude reduces lifetime risk for depression, anxiety and substance abuse disorders, and is a key resiliency factor in the prevention of suicide,” he said.

Practicing gratitude also affects behavior. Studies have shown that grateful people engage in more exercise, have better dietary behaviors, are less likely to smoke and abuse alcohol, and have higher rates of medication adherence – factors that translate into a healthier and happier life.
